Ok, for the first of hopefully many pedals that seem to defy sense, logic or make you question what the makers might have been smoking! Here we go with my 7th String!. This quality effect was made it seems in the mid-'90's by Californian based manufacturer Sound Ethix Corporation.

I picked up the effect for a grand sum of £8 from ebay but then got stuck with a massive shipping cost! but it was worth it for the hours of amusement and total madness of the unit!

Whats It Look Like?!

The box is huge (hence the shipping price!) and so imagine my excitement at opening it!

Well, inside is what looks basically like a '70's CB radio, some adapters and mains stuff and about 10 foot of rubber piping!

(did someone say 'what a pile of crap?!')

Whats it meant to do?!

How do I answer? well after skipping the first page of the maunal which informs me that I should read the bible (I figured out that this is a christian company by the bible quote on the box........), basically I read the rest of the manual and I'm still not sure!

Later that day..........Upon further investigation of the box and the strange manual I think I have discovered its purpose!

The rubber piping is stuck along the top of the guitar neck (hence the 7th string bit, clever stuff!) and as u move your hand up and down the neck, squeezing this pipe stuff, guess what.............u kinda turn the volume up and down...........woah! there was me using the volume pot and all the time I coulda been getting friction burns whilst covering my neck in sticky stuff and being plugged into a cb radio! what have I been missing?!

Conclusion

I refuse to try it on the grounds of how utterly crap it seems but maybe one day after a bottle of something strong, who knows!

If you want to control your volume, theres easier less embaressing ways, if you want a replacement cb radio then go for it!

anyone got a giant ariel for sale?
