FLIP SERIES TUBE EFFECTS - TD-X TUBE ECHO

From Official site:
All new - hybrid digital delay circuit w/parallel tube gain stage allows for ultra-long delays w/the warmth and clarity of analog units! 2600 mS delay time; Delay Level, Delay Time, and Feedback controls. Analog Simulation knob blends in tube saturation on the repeats while Tape Simulation knob blends in EQ curve that cuts ultra lows and ultra highs and boosts lower mids. Dual Outputs w/True Bypass Switching using 3PDT switch. The TD-X rules!!!!

Review:
I had'nt long got rid of my Line 6 Delay Modeller before this arrived at my door. I've never been a massive user of Delay pedals and tend to just have a small amount of delay on a solo or trailing delays on clean parts so I wasnt expecting anything amazing here.

The addition of a valve (tube) in pedals has grown over the years and although welcome more often than not, it can also be nothing more than a sales gimmick so having one on a delay pedal is an original twist.

Build:
This is a nicely built pedal, solid enough, no real worries about damaging the valve. The controls feel solid and positive in use.

In Use:
I hooked it up with a Marshall DSL100 and a Strat with no other pedals in-line. The pedal is totally transparent when switched off, gotta love properly done True Bypass Switching. The pedal can produce small amounts of noise when in use but it is very low and cetainly not a problem.

Sounds:
I was really blown away with the quality of the sounds produced. The valve is truely working in conjunction with the signal here. The sounds have a warmth and a shine to them. The controls provide more than I could ever want from a delay. I ran through Cathedrals type pieces through to my Edge impersonations and they sounded awesome! I was stunned at how incredibly responsive and musical this pedal is!

Conclusion:
Wow! This is going on my board fulltime! If you want gimmicks and like to spend more time tweaking than playing then look at pedals like the DL-4 or the Boomerang but if you want straight forward useable delay then this one blows the others out of the water!
